Blaze
Blaze is a 3yr old Eastern Red-Tailed hawk. With a permanently disabled left wing, resulting from a car accident, Blaze was the 1st Non-releasable bird of prey that the John James Audubon Center added to the educational staff. Blaze was rehabbed at Tri-State Bird Rescue in Newark, Delaware and after multiple surgeries and much love and care was given a clean bill of health and released to the center. |

Braveheart
Braveheart is a 2year old Red-Tailed hawk. There is some discrepancy about what variety of red-tail Braveheart is, only time and another molting season will tell! Red Creek Wildlife Center in Schuylkill County, PA rehabbed Braveheart. It was speculated that Bravehearts injuries were a result of flying inexperience. Sustaining blunt trauma to the head and left eye has caused blindness to that eye and substantial droop in the right wing. Braveheart and Blaze became fast companions for each other. They can even be found eating from the same rat!
Don Orris
Don is an adult American Kestrel, a member of the falcon family, that was brought into Red Creek Wildlife Center about 8 months ago. He sustained permanent nerve and ligament damage that makes predator flight nearly impossible. Don lives to chatter up a storm in front of students or visitors and is not at all bashful to show you his messy eating habits.
Mickey Wesler
Mickey is a juvenile Kestrel and is Dons direct opposite. This reserved falcon observes his environment closely before acting upon an opportunity. Mickey might have a more severe wing left wing injury but that doesnt stop this falcon. Mickey calmer disposition is a result of being held in captivity as an immature bird and not an adult. Hopefully this attitude will transcend to some of Mill Groves other cantankerous predators! |
